Chiku’s Second Chance

Chiku was a small, timid dog we found near Ghantaghar, Kanpur, lying on the roadside with a deep, infected wound on his leg. He had likely been hit by a speeding vehicle and left to fend for himself. When we received a call from a concerned passerby, we rushed to the spot with our rescue team. Chiku was shivering, hungry, and in immense pain, but despite it all, his tail wagged faintly when we approached him—a gesture that melted our hearts.

We carefully transported him to the shelter, where our vet cleaned and treated his wound. Chiku’s recovery journey was slow but remarkable. He needed weeks of rest, antibiotics, and love to heal completely. During his stay at the shelter, Chiku grew attached to us, often following us around with his playful demeanor.

Months later, a kind family visited the shelter looking to adopt a dog. The moment they met Chiku, it was love at first sight. Today, Chiku lives with them, enjoying the comfort of a loving home, warm meals, and endless affection. Seeing him run and play reminds us of the importance of second chances.
